As a Republican candidate to challenge incumbent Eddie Bernice Johnson in November, my passion is to bring a conservative message to residents of District 30. My commitment to the District is based upon a lifetime in District 30 where I grew up, attended school and church, and now live and work in Downtown Dallas.
As an American, my commitment is to the protection of our Homeland, strong National Security, and the support of our military and veterans.
As a fiscal conservative, my commitment is to fight for tax relief for individuals, families and small businesses, and to help create the environment for economic growth and new employment opportunities at home in District 30 and nationwide.
As your elected Congressman, my commitment will be to my home in District 30 where I will always maintain an office dedicated to listening to your concerns while I am representing your interests in Washington. I will work to support pro-life efforts and protect traditional family values.

Homeland & National Security
I believe our nation's commitment to protecting our Homeland and National Security is a fundamental role of our government and must be given priority. Homeland Security funds must be distributed based on threats within the U.S. not on political favors. As we continue the War on Terror, we must track down and bring terrorists to justice. In Iraq, the U.S. must continue to support the establishment of a stable democratic government and military presence in Iraq until the nation is able to stand alone with limited military assistance. And, most importantly, our nation must continue to support the men and women serving and retired from our Armed Forces.
Illegal Immigration
Our borders are becoming threats to national security and hurting America's economy. I believe our efforts must focus on strengthening our borders' security, enforcing the laws of the U.S., and increasing international cooperation, while working to provide credible alternatives for U.S. employers seeking immigrant labor where the U.S. labor force is deficient.
Health Care Costs
Senior citizens and families alike are concerned about rising health care and prescription drug costs, as well as accessibility to quality care. I will support legislative efforts to allow small businesses to join together in Association Health Plans to retain health care coverage for their employees, the allowance of tax-free Health Savings Accounts for individuals and families who want to take ownership of their health care, and the elimination of unnecessary benefit mandates and frivolous malpractice lawsuits which result in increased health care costs. These health care market reforms will result in increased accessibility and affordability for Americans to purchase quality health care.
Development in District 30 and Free Markets
District 30 encompasses Dallas' central business district which is in the process of being revitalized. A strong Downtown is key to Dallas' and District 30's future and will help spur development in all areas of the district, particularly in the Southern Sector. District 30 also includes Love Field airport which has long been held in check by the Wright Amendment. The time for the Wright Amendment has come and gone, and I would favor its repeal. A Love Field airport that is allowed to schedule long-haul flights would result in increased competition and serve as a catalyst for growth and new employment opportunities for the citizens in District 30.
Economy & Taxes
The U.S. economy is strong and prosperous. Recent tax cuts have helped defend our economy against recession after 9-11 and a volatile world economy. I will work to make these successful tax cuts permanent to help protect and relieve American families and small businesses. I believe the federal deficit must be relieved by spending cuts in D.C., not by an increase in taxes. These efforts will assist our government in creating an economy where families and businesses can thrive and job growth can occur successfully.
